Danone/Loblaws Maple Leafs Practice Promotion – Toronto Maple Leafs Official Rules and Regulations

Participation in the Contest constitutes full and unconditional agreement and acceptance of these Contest Rules, which are final on all matters relating to the Contest.

1. Eligibility: This Contest is only open to legal residents of Ontario eighteen (18) years of age or older living within a 50 mile radius of the City of Toronto and who are either: (i) the coach of, or (ii) a parent/legal guardian of; a player on, an active minor hockey team (ages 7-13 years) registered with an official Ontario hockey league or organization (a “Hockey Team”). Employees (their immediate families and those with whom they are domiciled) of Maple Leaf Sport & Entertainment Ltd. (“MLSE”), Danone Inc. and Loblaw Companies Limited (collectively, the “Contest Sponsors”) and the National Hockey League and its Member Teams and each of their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, governors, agents, their advertising and promotional agencies are not eligible to enter. Immediate family includes the husband, wife, son, daughter, brother, sister, mother, or father of an individual.

2. How to Enter: The Contest begins at 12:00 am ET on Friday, October 17th, 2008 and closes at 11:59 am ET on Thursday, November 13th, 2008 (the “Contest Closing Date”). There are two (2) ways to enter:

(a) Method #1: Purchase featured Danone products at Loblaws stores: During the Contest Period, purchase any of the featured Danone products at Loblaws stores. Then, visit www.mapleleafs.com, follow the contest link to enter the UPC code of the featured Danone product and fully complete all other required information on the contest entry form. To be eligible, the online entry ballot must be fully completed and received prior to the Contest Closing Date.

(b) Method #2: No purchase necessary: During the Contest Period, Submit a 100 word hand written essay identifying; if you are a parent, your child’s favourite Toronto Maple Leafs player, and if you are a coach, your team’s favourite Toronto Maple Leafs player, and why that player is a favorite. Hand print your name, address, your day and evening telephone numbers, the name of the Hockey Team and whether you are a parent or the coach of that Hockey Team and the words "Danone/Loblaws Maple Leafs Practice Promotion" on a postage pre-paid stamped envelope or deliver it to 40 Bay Street, Suite 400, Toronto, Ontario M5J 2X2 Attention: Jeff Carter. Entries must be received by 11:59 a.m. Thursday, November 13th, 2008 to be eligible. MLSE is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, illegible, damaged, destroyed, postage due, or misdirected entries. No bulk mailings or mechanical reproductions will be accepted.

Entrants may enter as often as they wish, provided that only one (1) entry per UPC code will be accepted.

3. Prizes: There are a total of 501 prizes to be won in this Contest: One (1) Grand Prize and five hundred (500) Secondary Prizes.

Each Secondary Prize shall consist of four (4) tickets to the “Celebration of Leafs Nation Open Practice presented by Danone” at Air Canada Centre on Saturday, December 6th, 2008 (approximate value of 4 pack $60 CDN each).

The Grand Prize shall consist of:

  • One practice session of approximately 10-15 minutes for the designated Hockey Team (maximum 20 participants) with select members of the Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club coaching staff at Air Canada Centre on Saturday, December 6th, 2008.
  • Two (2) Tickets for each team member for their parents or legal guardians to attend the “Celebration of Leafs Nation presented by Danone” at Air Canada Centre on Saturday, December 6th, 2008 (specific seat location to be determined by Contest Sponsors).
  • One (1) Maple Leafs Jersey featuring Loblaws and Danone logos for each child member of the winning team (maximum 20 jerseys – size and style determined by Contest Sponsors).
  • One commemorative (1) Picture of the Hockey Team at the Air Canada Centre
  • Bus transportation for the Hockey Team to and from Hockey Team’s home arena (or other location within 50 miles of Toronto if home arena outside of 50 mile radius)/Air Canada Centre on Saturday December 1st 6th for Hockey Team members, coaches and parent or legal guardians.
(Total approx. value of Grand Prize $10,000). A designated Hockey Team may only participate in one prize.

Odds of winning a prize depend on the number of eligible entries received within the Contest Period.

All incidental costs and expenses not specifically referred to as being included in any prize, including, but not limited to, transportation to and from Air Canada Centre, food, beverages, souvenir items, etc. shall be the responsibility of the winner and/or prize participants.

No stops will be made by bus driver and no riders other than the Hockey Team members, coaches and parents/legal guardians who attend the event will be permitted on the bus. Contest sponsors are not responsible for late arrival to the event. Return ride will depart Air Canada Centre no later than 30 minutes after the end of the event. Return bus ride will be forfeited for any rider not in the bus at the 30 minute mark, and no make good will be provided.

Only Hockey Team members and coaches will be permitted on-ice. Full hockey equipment is required on-ice and must be provided by Hockey Team members and coaches at their sole cost. Contest Sponsors will not provide any equipment. Contest Sponsors reserve the right to refuse ice access to any person who does not have the required hockey equipment.

Before being permitted on-ice, all on-ice participants (or their parents/legal guardians if they are minors) will be required to sign such acknowledgement and release forms as required by the Contest Sponsors.

4. DRAW: The eligible Grand Prize and Secondary Prize winners will be selected from all eligible entries received prior to the Contest Closing Date in a random draw which will be conducted at the offices of MLSE at, or about 9:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14th, 2008. The eligible Grand Prize winner will be chosen first by random draw, followed by the Secondary Prize winners. Selected entries will be eliminated from the pool once drawn. The selected entrant(s) will be contacted within twenty-four (24) hours following the drawing either by telephone or by e-mail at the telephone number or e-mail address, as the case may be, provided by the entrant on the online Contest entry form. At such time, selected entrant will be required to correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by MLSE and to confirm his/her eligibility. If the selected entrant does not meet all of the Contest conditions, fails to answer the skill-testing question correctly, does not sign and return the declaration and release form or contact cannot be made within twenty-four (24) hours of first contact, that entry will be disqualified and MLSE shall be entitled to select a new name from all remaining eligible entries. The Contest Sponsors are not responsible, whether as a result of human error or otherwise, for any failure to contact any potential winner. Once declared the winner, selected entrants will be directed as to how to claim his/her prize. 5. GENERAL RULES: This Contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. All decisions of the Contest Sponsors are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest and are not subject to appeal or review.

By entering the Contest, entrants agree to hold harmless the Contest Sponsors, the National Hockey League, its Member Teams and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, governors, employees, agents and advertising and promotional agencies (collectively, the "Released Parties") against any and all liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described) with respect to or arising out of: (i) entrant's participation in the Contest, (ii) the receipt or use of the prizes awarded therein; and (iii) the administration of the Contest and distribution of the prizes awarded therein.

Before being awarded a Prize, the selected winners and the parents/legal guardians of the members of the Hockey Team designated by the winner participating in the prize must sign the Contest Sponsors’ standard form of Declaration, Release and Waiver form, releasing the Released Parties from any and all liability arising from, among other things: (i) participation in the Contest; and (ii) acceptance and use of the prizes awarded therein; and (iii) the administration of the Contest and distribution of the prizes awarded therein and consenting to the use of winner’s and/or participant’s image, likeness, photograph by the Contest Sponsors in any publicity or promotional purposes carried out by the Contest Sponsors.

By entering the Contest, each winner grants to the Contest Sponsors and the National Hockey League the right to the use of his or her name, likeness or photograph without compensation in any publicity or for promotional purposes carried out by the above parties.

Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or otherwise. No telephone contact or correspondence will be entered into except with potential prize winners. Prize winner(s) must be able to attend on the date and time designated by the Contest Sponsors or such prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner.

The Contest Sponsors reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value and/or to terminate, modify or withdraw this Contest, in whole or in part (including altering the manner in which the prizes are distributed), at any time, without prior notice for any reason including, but not limited to, if viruses, bugs, tampering or other causes beyond the Contest Sponsors’ control affect the administration, security, fairness or proper play or conduct of the Contest. In the event a substitute prize is awarded, such prize must be accepted as awarded and cannot be exchanged for cash or otherwise. Further, the Contest Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any person and void any entries of that person who it believes has tampered with the entry process or any other component of the Contest, whose conduct or action affects the administration, security or fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, or who fails to meet or abide by the Contest Rules and conditions.

The Contest Sponsors do not assume any responsibility for tampering, theft, defects, viruses, human errors including negligence, deletions, technical or telephone, computer line, network, server, access providers, computer equipment or software problems, undeliverable messages, computer errors, lost, misdirected, late or incomplete entries or inaccurate capture of information or any online difficulties that may result in damage or malfunction the computer or the failure of the Contest Sponsors to process any entry and otherwise award any prize. Nor is responsibility assumed for printing errors appearing in these rules or related Contest materials. In addition, the Contest Sponsors will not assume any responsibility of any nature whatsoever in all cases where their inability to hold the Contest or to remit the prizes to the winners results from a cause beyond their control, including Acts of God, weather conditions, strike, lock-out or other labour dispute. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should an attempt be made, the Contest Sponsors reserve the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
